Sarah and Jonny as owners and operators are with you on every cruise.

Sarah is a New Zealander and has loved growing up in a country where access to the beach and ocean is  just so easy. Plenty of time was spent collecting shellfish, learning to fish from wharfs, playing cricket on the beach and snorkeling on rocky outcrops. Now she loves showing international travelers these experiences aboard The Rock.

Jonny, originally from the United Kingdom is well on the way to becoming a Kiwi. We even caught him supporting the All Blacks once. Jonny is a true water baby. If he’s not on it skippering the Rock he’s in it scuba diving or free diving. And of course there is the fishing, plenty of it to be done in the Bay of Islands. Jonny loves the Bay of Islands and now spends his days showing you around this stunning part of his adopted country.

As a small family operated cruise we are passionate about the Bay of Islands and strive to deliver you the very best value experience. We are with you on every cruise. You will find us at the helm, in the water and even cooking the BBQ. An overnight cruise is the only way to experience everything the Bay of Islands has to offer. Our trips suit all ages, our youngest guests at age 2 and our oldest guests in their eighties are able to give everything a go. We look forward to sharing a very special cruise with you....

The Crew

Our Crew are from all over the world and are generally travelers like you. Crew members love sharing this part of the world with us and are great at showing you around. Finding mussels for dinner, telling you historical tales of the local area and of course helping you bring in that first fish! (And probably taking some of the credit too) Guests continually rate our overnight cruise well above anything else they have done in New Zealand. This is due in large part to our enthusiastic crew.
