OUr Crew
its hard work having this much fun!
But someone has to do it! And we are lucky enough to have a charming, friendly and helpful bunch of crew to help us run our cruise. Better still they are all passionate about the Bay of Islands and love sharing it with you while you cruise through this stunning region.
Ben
Originally from Suffolk England Ben has been aboard The Rock for two summers as our First Mate or Jonny’s right hand man. Although we believe the steak dinners may have had something to do with his return from his travels for season number Two. Ben is a whizz on the BBQ cooking your steak to perfection and loves sharing the wildlife and scenery of the Bay of Islands with every guest that comes aboard. Also if you are lucky you might convince him to grab a guitar in the evening around the fire.
Adam
A born and bred Kiwi, Adam has been living in the Bay of Islands for two years. Most of that time was spent working aboard the Tall Ship R Tucker Thompson. Adam is most often found at the helm as Skipper of the boat but is also fantastic on the piano and guitar. This season we expect to hear plenty of jam sessions around the fire place. Games and puzzles seem to be another of Adam’s strengths so if you have any tough brain teasers he’s the man you should be trying them out on. He will definitely have a few for you.
Tommy
Is Australian but we don’t hold it against him too often! This is Tommy’s first season aboard The Rock and this guy has the most infectious laugh we have come across. As a bit of a water baby he loves free diving so this is the man to get to know if you are keen on seafood. Truly environmentally conscious even building his own composter for his home here in Paihia Tommy has learned plenty about our Department of Conservation and the local Restoration project, Project Island Song if your keen to know a bit more about our environment and wildlife.
Donna
Is also a returning crew member and yet another Brit! This time from Middlesbrough. This girl is full of stories, we are continually amazed at all the different reasoning for why the water sparkles in the evening. Don’t worry she eventually gives you the scientific facts. A bubbly personality Donna is great at helping you in and out and around your kayak or with your snorkelling and certainly keeps everyone chatting. With itchy feet we get the feeling Donna will be off travelling around some more of NZ after the season ends here in Paihia.
